Our Baby Rambo (Nugget)
11/26/2009 - 04/30/2026

"Rambo was more than a dog, he was our baby, comfort, joy, and unconditional love wrapped into one little soul. We got him when he was only 3 months old, and for 16 beautiful years he filled our lives with happiness, loyalty, cuddles, and countless memories that will stay in our hearts forever.
He loved riding in the car, going to the beach, playing ball, playing hide and seek, and playing chase. He loved being close to us and sharing in the little moments that became the biggest treasures. His sweet face, gentle eyes, and loving spirit brought warmth wherever he went. Rambo taught us the meaning of true companionship and a love that never fades.
He was a healthy and happy dog, but in his later years dementia and old age slowly began to take their toll on him. Even so, he was still our sweet boy, always loved and always cared for.
Although our hearts ache deeply without him here, we find peace knowing he crossed the rainbow bridge surrounded by love and in our arms. We imagine him healthy again, running freely, happy, playful, and at peace.
A piece of our hearts went with him that day, but a piece of his will remain with us forever.
Run free, sweet boy! <3
You will always be our baby, our heart, and our forever love. We love you so much. <3"

"Dinah loved being outdoors. Whenever the sun was shining, even in winter, you would find her on the back porch sleeping in the sun. She loved to spoon in bed and wanted her feet held while she slept. She loved pettings, but on her own terms. She was an exemplary cat and we miss her terribly."

Blackie

9/12/2007 - 4/20/2026

"Roxie was only 3 months old when we brought her home. She weighed 4 pounds and was a bundle of joy. Early on she had laser hip surgery to correct an issue that was common with Havanese dogs.
She went on to terrorize a family a rabbits that had taken up residence under our deck. We are still in shock and awe of her speed and ability to actually catch a few before they were able to scurry under the fence to escape. She would then drop the “catch” at the back door expecting to get a reward. Naturally we “scolded” her and then gave her a treat! :)
She then took up chasing squirrels who would run along the top of the fence while she raced along below. Luckily she never caught any.
Over the years you can see her hair changed color. She was growing up to reach her final weight of 11 pounds!
We had an amazing 18-1/2 years of love and joy with her! She had us well trained to give her a cookie at 1 PM and here Dentastix at 8 PM. Naturally. she got plenty of treats in between!
Due to allergies, we gave her injections once every 3 weeks. She knew that, along with her monthly Heartguard and flea & tick application, would also require liver treats that she craved!!
While our grief may eventually fade, our love and memories of her will forever live in our hearts and minds!"

Kindle, Kinnie-koo, Kinniekoodamous, Kindle-bean, Swamp Thang, Kindle Marie! (when she was naughty), my perfect princess.

"What can I say about the little girl who was such a huge part of my life? She came into the house, with 2 adult Dobes, and took it over. I could see in her eyes that she was an old soul and she knew what was what and how things should go. Amazingly, the Dobes, Dicey and Kobe, totally agreed and went along with her program. She was simply the perfect dog. Smart, she learned quickly, as if she had done it all before. She taught me so much! The most important thing was patience. Since she knew it all already, sometimes she lost patience with me. I had to learn to act calm, even if I wasn’t. If I got excited, she got more excited, I got more excited, and we spiraled out of control. Zen. I had to find my Zen.

We did many fun things – agility, herding, dock diving, hiking, but the best times were at home, where she always followed me room to room to room no matter how late it got, let me know when it was time to get up (no matter how late we had been up), eat, and play (get off the computer!). She was still doing those things on her last day. Some days she was unable to get her rear going and I had to help her; thank goodness for the help ‘em up harness and for the non-skid booties that helped her keep traction once she was up. I knew her time was coming but that decision is so hard to make. She wasn’t sick, her body was just failing, despite medication, acupuncture, massage. She would have a bad day here and there but kept rallying so we kept going. But last Sunday she had a very bad day and night and I decided enough was enough for this little girl who had always been so strong and full of life and had given me everything. I had to give back. She went peacefully at home, assisted by Dr. Liskey of Millyvet, who was so kind and compassionate, in my arms, being told how much she was loved. Caper and Moxie were both able to see her one last time.

I used to wonder why we do this, time after time. We know when we bring them home that this day will come, sooner or later. The answer is the time in between the hello and goodbye. That time is oh so worth it!"

8/14/2013 - 4/1/2026

"Michael adopted Xavi in South Carolina when he was just a puppy. Who knew that the puppy that chewed up his couch would turn out to be his heart dog? Xavi became the best big brother to Lionel in 2015. They were the best of friends. Xavi taught Lionel how to be the most good boy, including the most important trick: how to give begging eyes to guilt all of us for snacks (spoiler: grandpaw fell for the eyes every time). When Michael, Xavi, and Lionel moved to MD, that’s when Michael met me, Becky, and Xavi quickly became my heart dog too. I was so blessed to get to love him for almost 6 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grand-paw-rents. Some of his favorite memories with them were spending time outside on their porch, grandpaw sneaking him chips under the table, and making sure that grandma was never alone if he had anything to say about it.
Xavi had such a way of making his presence known. Whether he was greeting you at the door, scaring off delivery drivers with his bark, helping build IKEA furniture, or laying his head on you for snuggles, he always wanted his family to know that he was here for them. His absence is felt so deeply by all of us. Daddy, mommy, Lionel, grandma, and grandpaw love you so much, Xavi. Until we meet again <3"

"Remi was one of a kind. He was the most patient, loving, lovable, goofy boy. He loved everyone, and everyone loved him. Remi accompanied us on all our adventures for almost 14 years. He made our lives whole, and will be so deeply missed. We are a peace knowing he is finally resting. Never forgotten and forever loved."

"Henry was a bird companion who got to live in 5 states across 15 years with his owner who will miss him for a lifetime. He grew up in a college dorm learning to whistle songs like the Imperial March from Star Wars, and to say his name and a few choice phrases. He always greeted his human friends with a "hello" when the lights turned on, and loved to share spinach and peas at dinner, and to sing meandering jazzlike songs at random to anyone he met. He will be deeply missed by the other birds in the home, and even more so by his mom. He was a once in a lifetime personality packed into a small 90 grams of pure love and wonder. He is flying pain free now thanks to MillyVet <3"

"Today we remember a truly remarkable dog whose life was a testament to loyalty and unconditional love.
Found on the side of the road as a tiny puppy, alone and uncertain of what the world would bring, he was given a second chance finding his way to me and in return, he gave twelve incredible years of devotion, companionship, joy and uncontrollable drooling. From the beginning he grew into my heart, a steady presence, and best friend.
He had a way of understanding without words. Whether it was a quiet night at home, dog park, hiking, a car ride, or simply sitting side-by-side after a long day, he was always there constant, loving, and true. His tail wags were generous, his loyalty unwavering, and his spirit gentle yet strong.
For twelve years, he filled my home with laughter, comfort, and countless memories that will never fade. He taught me about forgiveness, living in the moment, and loving without condition.
Though he no longer walks beside me, his imprint remains forever on the hearts he touched. From the side of the road to a life overflowing with love, his story is one of hope and faith.
Run free, sweet big boy.
I’ll be cleaning up your drool stains for the next twelve years.
You were rescued, and in so many ways, you rescued me right back.
You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
The one and only Buzz."

"We rescued Ashby from the Lost Dog and Cat Rescue in 2012 as an 8-week-old. We fell in love with Ashby (originally named “Strawberry”) at first sight. Ashby was the kind of dog that could make anyone fall in love with her. She was so gentle, friendly and laid back.
We brought her home to 4 kids and Mia, a yellow Lab, and Ashby took to all immediately. When Mia passed a few years later, Ashby was by her side.
We introduced Kenzie, a 9-week-old chocolate Lab, into our family when Ashby was 7. Kenzie came in like a Tasmanian devil! Ashby was perfectly content to be second in command now.
Ashby had kidney cancer at age 8; fortunately it was encapsulated in the kidney and had not spread. She had it removed and lived fine with one kidney.
I volunteered for a service dog organization that trained Labs to be paired with veterans with mobility and mental health issues. I would often take Ashby with me. She would be a “distraction dog” the service dogs needed to ignore as part of their training.
She learned to swim at an older age and took to it naturally, as Labs do. In the lake, she always swam outside the imaginary border of where the kids were swimming; herding and protecting them, and keeping them close to the boat.
Grandbabies came into her life when Ashby was a teenager. Having not been raised with “littles” we weren’t sure how she’d react to them. True to her sweet disposition she proved to be as gentle with them as we had hoped, allowing them to crawl on her and tug at her.
She was our oldest living dog having lost lost three others by age 10. We were so grateful for the 13 1/2 years we had with her. Her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by us holding her, hugging her, and whispering to her. We will miss her gentle soul."

"2025 proved to be a difficult year as we said goodbye to both our dogs. We are so grateful to Dr. Liskey for her exceptional care of both our pets and our family. We are forever thankful.
Buddy was our 10 year old Newfoundland who never met a person he didn't immediately love (including Dr.Liskey). He was definitely our heart dog. His presence, joy, hair, and drool were all part of his charm. Even 2 months after we lost him, we feel his absence every day. We were so lucky to have him in our lives and know that we have years of wonderful memories to remember him by."

"Daiquiri was the best dog a family could ever ask for. For 10½ beautiful years, she adapted to everything life threw at our family, steady and loving through it all. She loved swimming in the Chesapeake, sunbathing in the yard, and soaking up constant snuggles from her favorite people.
She welcomed three babies into our home and stood faithfully by their sides as they grew. Our hearts are so broken with the loss of our sweet girl. We brought her home when she was just weeks old, full of energy and curiosity. From the very beginning, she filled our lives with joy. She was always waiting eagerly for her people to come home, ready to shower us with tail wags and unconditional love.
I will miss her diligent “neighborhood watch” shifts, nose prints on the glass, those full-body tail-wag greetings, and her unwavering commitment to collecting the cheese tax.
I loved Daiquiri her entire life, and I will spend the rest of mine missing her."

"Kaliyah was the sweet girl who always waited her turn to be loved. She had the kindest eyes. As a puppy, she was an excellent escape artist. As she got older, she preferred a cozy spot next to her sister and the occasional wrestle with the annoying puppy we brought home a couple of years ago.
For 14 years, she loved her family fiercely, and her family loved her right back. Rest easy, Kaliyah. We love you."

He loved the water, (keeping him out of the lake was hard), hiking, riding in the car, playing with his friends, treats and being petted. "13 years on this earth and 11 with us wasn’t long enough. Jango wasn’t just a dog. He was a best friend, a companion, the one who got us through our 20s. He was our constant staple and was with us through every major life event. The Marine Corps, moving into our home, getting married, getting a new dog, and bringing home our baby boy. Our hearts have a hole and our home is a little more quiet without the pitter patter of his nails walking across the floor, but we have peace knowing he is healed and happy again. He gave us the best 11 years and we hope he knew how much he was loved. We will miss you so much <3"

10/1/2015-2/2/2026

"Cheech, beloved 10-year-old pit bull, crossed the rainbow bridge on February 2, 2026, surrounded by love.
Cheech was rescued and given a beautiful life by Brynn, Mike, and Zach, who saw in him what everyone who met him quickly learned—he was a truly sweet soul. From the moment he became part of their family, Cheech repaid that love every day with loyalty, gentleness, and an endless capacity for affection.
He was a good boy in every sense of the word. Cheech never met a treat he didn’t love, and his absolute favorite pastime was chewing on and proudly carrying around tennis balls. Those tennis balls brought him pure joy, and watching him play was one of life’s simple, perfect moments.
Cheech is survived by his pit bull sister, Nala. Their bond was special, and his presence will always be felt beside her.
Though saying goodbye was heartbreakingly, Cheech’s life was full of love, and happiness—exactly what every rescue dog deserves. He leaves behind paw prints on the hearts of those who loved him and memories that will be cherished forever.
Run free, sweet Cheech. May there be endless treats, soft places to rest, and all the tennis balls your heart could ever want. You were deeply loved, and you will never be forgotten."

"Almost 12 years was never going to be enough.
Echo wasn’t “just a dog” — she was family in every sense of the word. She was there for the ordinary days and the hard ones, the celebrations and the quiet moments in between. She knew our routines, our moods, and somehow always knew exactly when we needed her most even though I needed her more than she realized.
Echo gave us a love that asked for nothing in return — loyal, steady, and pure. Her presence filled our home with comfort and warmth, and her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. She taught us patience, unconditional love, and how deeply an animal can imprint on your heart.
She grew with us, aged with us, and stood by us faithfully through every season of life. The years may have changed her pace, but never her devotion. To the very end, she was ours — gentle, loving, and deeply connected to our family. Cancer took her away from us, but she will forever live in our hearts.
Our hearts are shattered, but we are forever grateful for the time we had. We will carry her with us in memories, in habits we don’t even realize yet, and in the love she helped shape in our home.
Run free, sweet Echo.
You were so very loved — and you always will be. We miss you terribly."
